Communications and Media Coordinator

Overview
ANFCA is seeking a qualified candidate to support the engagement of urban Indigenous youth to become young leaders, through a variety of mediums, to advance the meaningful outcomes and engagement related to reconciliation through the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) and the 94 Calls to Action of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC). This position requires an individual who has strong skills within communications and media development.
- Work daily in Teams to ensure documents are saved, filed, and shared appropriately.
- Support the engagement of urban Indigenous youth within the project and community.
- Support the team to oversee data and media collection, and report generation.
- Develop communication methods, media development, and advertisements in relation to the project. Development of a youth communications strategy.
- Communicate directly with Friendship Centres.
Location: Edmonton, AB
Responsibilities
- Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products, specifically Excel and Teams
- Capacity to quickly learn software.
- Ability to foster effective working relationships within a team environment.
- Ability to organize, prioritize, and schedule demanding work assignments.
- Develop and maintain efficient and effective recordkeeping systems and procedures.
- Possess advanced verbal and written communication skills.
- Knowledge of urban Indigenous Friendship Centre Movement, structure, and processes will be considered an asset.
- Extensive knowledge of social media platforms.
- Ability to develop communications, media, and create social media strategies.
- Possess working knowledge of communications systems, media systems, and engagement strategies.
- Interest in working directly with youth, community members, project committees and other stakeholders.
- Excellent interpersonal skills and the ability to interact and engage effectively with youth.
- Knowledge of UNDRIP and TRC is an asset.
Requirements (or Qualifications)
Post Secondary degree, diploma, or certificate in Communications fields, or related equivalencies; at least three (3) years of applicable experience that relates to the duties and responsibilities specified.
